According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, incidents of workplace violence resulted in 403 fatalities across the United States in 2014. In California, 45 workplace violence homicides occurred. The statistics are even more concerning for women. Roughly 40 percent of all women who die at work die as a result of homicide. In fact, homicide is the leading cause of death for women on the job.
In 2014, there were also 16,000 nonfatal occupational injuries intentionally inflicted.
