You can require an employee to visit an appropriate health care professional of your choice if the employee provides insufficient documentation from his/her treating physician or other health care professional, to substantiate that he/she has a disability and needs a reasonable accommodation.1 The examination must be limited to determining the existence of a disability and the functional limitations that require reasonable accommodation.
