California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) issued
new regulations on employers’ use of criminal background information in employment decisions. The regulations were recently approved by the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) and take effect
July 1, 2017.
The new regulations create additional burdens for employers, and the California Chamber of Commerce asked both the DFEH and the OAL to reject the regulations on numerous grounds.
