Employment Law Subject Matter Expert

Serves as a subject matter expert on California, federal and local labor and employment laws. Writes for and provides editorial support for all CalChamber publications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as a subject matter expert on, and maintains a current knowledge base of, all areas of California and applicable federal and local labor and employment laws.
  • Responsible for researching, writing and updating CalChamber content related to local labor and employment laws.
  • Writes for, edits and/or reviews CalChamber publications concerning state, federal and local labor and employment laws.
  • Ensures that content is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Conducts Webinars, seminars and online events specific to employment law along with CalChamber staff.
  • Work on Helpline to answer questions on California labor and employment law, personnel, workers’ compensation, and discrimination.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • J.D. plus employment law experience of 3-5 years.
  • 3-5 years’ experience providing advice and training to lawyers and non-lawyers about compliance with California and federal employment laws and best practices.
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting legislative and legal periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations.
  • Able to write articles, reports business correspondence, and presentations.
  • Experienced with use of software, such as Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
