Meal and Rest Break Best Practices

Following the California Supreme Court’s decision in Brinker, the employer’s responsibility to have specific meal and rest break policies and to document that the meal break was provided is even more important. You should draft specific break policies for your operation. Vague policies that are subject to interpretation by the employee increase your risk of liability.1 ​​
