Reassignment as a Reasonable Accommodation

If the employee can no longer perform the essential functions of his/her job, reasonable accommodation might include transfer to a different job or schedule.1 Simply because the employee is able to return to work does not relieve you from your ongoing reasonable accommodation obligations if the employee has such need.
