Overview
The Public Affairs Council advises the CalChamber on political and policy strategies to improve California's business climate.
The 300-member council monitors key policy issues, reviews the CalChamber’s PAC endorsements and makes recommendations on ballot measures and initiative campaigns to the CalChamber Board and president. It is chaired by CalChamber Board member Gillian Zucker of Auto Club Speedway.

“Reforming California” was the focus of the California Chamber of Commerce Public Affairs Council October retreat, held October 28-30 at the Westin Verasa in Napa.
With one of the highest turnouts ever for the retreat, the conference was marked by lively discussions on topics such as the 2010 initiative reform measures, the gubernatorial race and legislative elections. The retreat also covered the Commission on the 21st Century Economy, and the insiders’ perspective on the water deal currently under negotiation in a special session.

During her visit to the California Chamber of Commerce, State Auditor Elaine Howle explained that due to state budget constraints, the effort to seek applicants for the new Citizens Redistricting Commission will need to rely heavily on outreach other than paid advertising.
In a live webcast, Howle stressed that business organizations need to urge their members to apply for the commission and get involved in the process.
