Teams 1 - Leading Virtual Teams 1: Putting Together a VTeam (Includes Simulation)
The leader of a virtual team, or vteam for short, faces a unique set of challenges. For example, geographic distance, cultural differences, native language differences, and even differences in access to information and communication technology can make the leader's task complex and difficult. By establishing the priority of the specific challenges a team faces and then obtaining the resources the team needs to be successful, you will be able to establish a team culture that respects and leverages the cultural differences of its members.

Course Length: 1 hour

Teams 2 - Leading Virtual Teams 2: Creating a VTeam Work Environment (Includes Simulation)
In the previous course, you put together a virtual team. To ensure the team's success, you need to provide a supportive virtual work environment. Vteam culture defines the way team members work together. Many different technologies can help members communicate and collaborate more effectively. By selecting technologies that match or support vteam culture and then providing training on the use of these technologies, you can empower the vteam to perform at a higher level. In contrast, when selected technologies do not match vteam culture, members become frustrated and annoyed with the technology, and their performance is negatively affected.

Course Length: 28 minutes

Teams 3 - Leading Virtual Teams 3: Sustaining a VTeam (Includes Simulation)
In the previous course, you created a vteam work environment. To sustain a vteam, you have to respond to external influences and ensure vteam success. Vteams are not islands unto themselves. They have to answer to the parent organization and prove their worth. You can protect your vteam's reputation by managing outgoing and incoming communications to create positive perceptions of the team. You also can monitor external sources of change and manage people's reactions to these changes so your vteam can be proactive and adjust its strategy to ensure success.

Vteam success, like the success of any team whether virtual or not, is a function of the team's outcomes and its processes for achieving these outcomes. This means you have to pay great attention to vteam processes and the internal workings of the team. By measuring and monitoring vteam performance, you can correct problems before they derail the team. By ensuring the organization learns from the vteam's experiences, whether the team's outcome is successful or not, you create vteam success.
