Voters, CalChamber Agree Vote Protects Redistricting, Rejects Food Labeling, Tax
California voters overwhelmingly passed California Chamber of Commerce-supported Proposition 40, the referendum on the Senate district maps drawn by the Citizens Redistricting Commission. Voters also rejected Proposition 37, the flawed food labeling mandate, and the Munger tax initiative, Proposition 38. |

Court Agrees with CalChamber: Rounding Policies OK in California
Last week, the 4th District Court of Appeal issued an employer-friendly opinion by concluding that, under California law, employers may round employee timecard entries to the nearest tenth of an hour. This ruling is particularly important because there is no statute or prior case law that expressly authorizes this common practice, which is permissible under federal law and followed by California’s labor agency. |
