U.S. Senate Candidates Debate Tonight: Fiorina Takes on Boxer at Saint Mary’s College

(September 1, 2010) U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina will take on Barbara Boxer, the three term U.S. Senator, tonight in a one hour, live, commercial-free debate. The debate is sponsored by the San Francisco Chronicle, KQED Radio and KTVU Oakland.

It will be moderated by KTVU political editor Randy Shandobil.  Panelists who will question the candidates include Carla Marinucci of the San Francisco Chronicle, Pilor Marrero of La Opinion and KQED radio’s Scott Shafer.

Fiorina has received the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber. Business leaders around the state have identified Fiorina as the pro-business, pro-jobs candidate in the U.S. Senate race.

“Carly…understands the challenges businesses are facing and will stand up for the people of California during these tough economic times,” said Bill Miller, U.S. Chamber senior vice president and national political director. “She is an invaluable leader who has a common sense approach to job creation and getting America back on the road to recovery.”

According to the Fiorina campaign, Carly has the real world experience to go to Washington, bring people together and find commonsense solutions to California’s challenges. Her economic growth plan is built on the belief that we need to unleash California’s workers, small business owners, and innovators by reducing uncertainty created by over-reaching government. Fiorina has also called for tax cuts, reducing regulation and transparency in how federal money is spent.

The debate will air tonight at 7 p.m. on the following TV stations throughout California: KTVU (Oakland), KICU (San Francisco), KCRA (Sacramento), KGTV (San Diego), KMPH (Fresno), KGET (Bakersfield), KCOY (Santa Barbara), KSBW (Salinas), KEMY (Eureka), KRVU (Chico), KMIR (Palm Springs), KTTV (Los Angeles).
