phMainContent (April 10, 2009) To help California employers better understand how to implement a valid alternative workweek, CalChamber counsel will present a free 30-minute live web seminar to address compliance issues associated with alternative workweeks.
The recent state budget deal included amendments that give California employers more options when creating an alternative workweek for their employees.
Specifically, legislation in the budget package offers greater flexibility in employee scheduling by permitting an employee, with the employer’s approval, to move from one alternative workweek menu option to another on a weekly basis. The legislation also states that a “work unit may consist of an individual employee as long as the criteria for an identifiable work unit in this section is met.”
Creating an Alternative Workweek Overview Live Web Seminar will review the steps for setting up a valid alternative workweek. Attendees will learn:
- What sample documents are required when considering an alternative workweek.
- What these amendments mean to California employers’ bottom line.
