CalChamber to Offer Webinar on Leaves of Absence

(October 5, 2012) To help businesses avoid common mistakes and better understand job-protected leaves covered by both federal and state law, the California Chamber of Commerce is offering  a webinar on October 18.

Issues associated with the federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) are amongchallenges most frequently encountered by HR administrators. Managing interactions between FMLA and CFRA leaves—when they run concurrently and when they don't—can be confusing and time consuming.

The FMLA/CFRA Webinar is being held on Thursday, October 18, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

CalChamber's employment law experts will answer frequently asked questions regarding FMLA and CFRA leaves, including:

  • Can an employee be terminated if FMLA/CFRA is exhausted?
  • When are employees required to use vacation, sick or PTO during a leave?
  • Can health insurance be terminated for nonpayment?
  • Can both parents take baby bonding leave at the same time?

Attendees will also receive guidance and best practices regarding:

  • Employee eligibility;
  • Qualifying reasons;
  • Medical certification;
  • FMLA/CFRA designation;
  • Baby bonding;
  • Benefits;
  • Compensation;
  • Return to work/reinstatement; and
  • Termination.

On-Demand Webinar

The on-demand webinar, which is available for viewing beginning October 26, offers downloadable webinar slides and a recording of the live event. Attendees will not be able to submit questions.
