Editorial Guidelines

About HRCalifornia.com

The purpose of HRCalifornia.com is to provide accurate, complete, up-to-date interactive information about California-specific labor and employment law and human resource topics. HRCalifornia.com offers problem-solving information and time-saving tools for California employers.

HRCalifornia.com, launched by the California Chamber of Commerce in December 2000, is a destination site, linked to the California Chamber’s home page, but operating as a separate resource location for California businesses. Content for the site is derived from California Chamber publications and products, as well as partner sites and news services. Additional news, information and updates are generated and managed by the California Chamber of Commerce. Access to the site is available as a benefit of membership with the California Chamber of Commerce. Revenue and support for HRCalifornia.com comes from memberships and partnerships.

Policy Guidelines for Editorial Content

The goal for editorial content on HRCalifornia.com is to be accurate, fair, complete and ethical. We are committed to a policy of editorial neutrality. Although content on HRCalifornia.com contains information about legal issues, the content is not intended to serve as legal advice. Users who have specific questions about legal issues should consult with legal counsel.

Forum Guidelines

The Forum on HRCalifornia.com contains discussion and commentary regarding labor and employment law matters, and is moderated by experts at the California Chamber of Commerce. The California Chamber is providing this Forum as a means for human resource professionals to discuss issues relating to HR administration with their peers. Although every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy and completeness of this information, the Chamber and the contributors and reviewers of this Forum cannot be responsible for any errors and omissions, nor any agency’s interpretations, applications and changes of information described herein.

This Forum is provided with the understanding that the Chamber and others associated with HRCalifornia.com are not engaged in rendering legal, technical or other professional service. If legal and other expert assistance is required, the services of competent professionals should be sought.

Business Relationships

Because the Internet is a place where editorial content and commercial relationships exist together, we believe the difference between content and commerce on HRCalifornia.com should always be clear.

HRCalifornia.com may develop business relationships with various partners and businesses that provide products and services related to the human resource function at California companies. Where editorial content discusses these participating partners or businesses, HRCalifornia.com will disclose the business relationship, wherever relevant, when an HRCalifornia.com partner is the primary subject of the editorial content or appears by name in editorial content.

Editorial staff will avoid any appearance of impropriety and will refuse offers that could give the impression that the California Chamber of Commerce is giving partial treatment to a partner/ vendor in its editorial content.

Advertising Policy

We do not generate revenue by selling advertisements on California Chamber websites.

Content Use and Display

Content from External Sources and Links to External Sites

Content from external sources will be labeled to indicate the source of the information when the information was not generated by California Chamber editorial staff. Content on the websites may contain links to non-California Chamber content. These links do not constitute an endorsement of the linked content and the California Chamber does not guarantee the accuracy of the linked content.

Corrections and Clarifications

We are committed to correcting any factual errors or errors in interpretation. Editorial staff will address any errors brought to their attention and make an appropriate correction as soon as possible. This includes misspellings as well as factual or information errors identified in archival articles after they have been published. The goal is to correct all content so no errors remain in our permanent archive. We also will provide clarifications in cases where, in our judgment, the wording or the headline on an article may lead to misinterpretation.
