Following is background on each of the winning candidates endorsed by ChamberPAC:
| Guy Houston (Assembly District 15) was elected to the Assembly in 2002 and was previously mayor of Dublin. As mayor, he attracted new technology jobs to the area and continues to be a proponent of “smart growth” for California communities. He is president of a local real estate and mortgage finance company and is an active member of numerous local boards and commissions. Houston serves on both the Assembly Banking and Finance Committee and the Assembly Labor and Employment Committee. |  | Shirley Horton (Assembly District 78) was elected to the state Assembly in 2002, after serving as mayor of Chula Vista since 1994. Horton is a successful business owner who has made jobs a priority issue in her work as both mayor and Assembly member. Horton has been an active member of numerous organizations and boards, including the local planning commission, which works to sustain local jobs and promote business. |  | Bonnie Garcia (Assembly District 80) was elected to the state Assembly in 2002 and served as a member of Governor Schwarzenegger’s Transition Team. She is committed to helping the Governor reform state government and improve the state’s economy. As an Assembly member, Garcia has focused her work on job creation and retention. She currently serves as vice chair of the Assembly Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy Committee. He is a former city council member and mayor of Santa Maria.
