Formed in 1995, the CalChamber Pro-Business Leadership Fund (ChamberPAC) is a non-partisan political action committee (PAC) that works to protect business-friendly interests by identifying and campaigning for pro-jobs candidates running for local and state legislative seats. In 2005, ChamberPAC expanded its charter to include support for candidates at both the state and local level, ensuring that the pro-jobs voice is heard throughout the state.

Why Contribute to the CalChamber Pro-Business Leadership Fund (ChamberPAC)?

We need legislators who will fight to protect your business from trial lawyer attacks, detrimental changes to workers compensation reform, and other anti-business legislation, so that California's economic recovery stays on track. The job-killer agenda is heavily funded by personal injury lawyers and public employee unions, and we need your support to effectively oppose it.

The Pro-Business Leadership Fund (ChamberPAC) has achieved an 84% success rate in helping to elect business-friendly candidates who share our concerns.

Through the Pro-Business Leadership Fund (ChamberPAC), resources of like-minded employers are pooled to have a greater impact on legislative campaigns. Even if the races are outside of a business' own district, the Leadership Fund (ChamberPAC) provides a unique opportunity for the entire business community to work together to create a pro-jobs majority throughout California, a crucial stap toward California's economic turnaround.

The 2012 elections will be the first run under major reforms supported by CalChamber and approved by California voters to make newly elected legislators more accountable to voters.

How the CalChamber Pro-Business Leadership Fund (ChamberPAC) Works

The CalChamber Pro-Business Leadership Fund (ChamberPAC) was developed so that the employer community could have a greater impact on legislative campaigns. Members of the California Chamber Board of Directors, comprised of business leaders who are very familiar with the community’s concerns, decide to whom funds will be distributed.

The decision of whether to support a candidate is not associated with the way he or she votes on specific legislation. Rather, it is based on the legislator's past and continuing support of the business community's agenda.

Under California's campaign finance law, Proposition 34, individuals and companies are allowed to contribute up to $6,500 annually to a political action committee (PAC). Separately, per election, an individual or company may contribute $3,900 directly to a candidate.
