California boasts superb weather throughout the year, but different parts of the state experience very different weather conditions.

If you are planning to visit San Francisco, keep in mind that a common misconception is that the City by the Bay is sunny and warm in the summer. Rather, it is commonly foggy, breezy, and quite chilly during the summer months, but enjoys a beautiful Indian summer beginning in September. Don't let that discourage you from visiting the amazing city, just plan accordingly with sweaters and jackets!

While visiting most other Northern California cities in the summer, you can expect dry, hot, and sunny days. Some areas cool off much more during the evening than others. Winter in Yosemite and Lake Tahoe can be harsh, so plan accordingly, but winter near the coast and in the valleys is relatively mild and rain is common.

Southern California enjoys warm temperatures throughout the year, varying only slightly between the summer and winter months.
