San Francisco

Where to Stay   This international "City By the Bay" is full of luxury accommodations and charming inns. The following are just a few of our suggestions for a memorable vacation:

Hotel Majestic  Once one of the city's grand hotels, this Edwardian mansion has been fully restored to its regal elegance.
The Westin St. Francis  One of the most luxurious hotels in the city, this historic building has been visited by queens, presidents, and celebrities since the early 1900s.
Phoenix Hotel  A great value motel located near the historic Civic Center and some of the city's hottest nightclubs, this retro motor lodge used to be a hangout for Hollywood celebrities.

Where to Eat  Asian influence and fresh seafood abound in San Francisco, but there is also something for everyone throughout the city.

Rose Pistola  This popular trattoria is located in the heart of the hopping North Beach area.
Cafe Marimba  Set in the Marina district, Cafe Marimba serves superb Mexican food in a festive atmosphere.
Kuleto's  Located in Union Square, this fine Italian restaurant is known for its excellent service.
Mel's Drive-In  Step back in time and have a burger and fries while enjoying the authentic 1950's setting.

What to Do  San Francisco is full of museums, shops, and various interesting sites. Make time for a trip to Alcatraz Island, a walk along Fisherman's Wharf, and a tour of the new PacBell Stadium.

Alcatraz Island  Take a ferry from S.F. to Alcatraz and explore the prison and grounds while listening to an exceptional recorded tour narrated by actual prisoners and guards. Try to take one of the special tours guided by National Park Service Rangers as well.
Fisherman's Wharf  Filled with shops, restaurants, and museums, the wharf is one of the city's most popular spots. Stop to watch the sea lions or one of the many street performers before taking a guided cruise around the bay.

PacBell Park  Home to the San Francisco Giants, this stadium is well worth touring even if you don't have the opportunity to attend a game.

How to Get Around    San Francisco is easy to get around without having to brave the traffic yourself. It's always busy, and busier during rush hours, so plan accordingly.

San Francisco Bay Area Transit  Get instant access to all of the San Francisco Bay Area's transit agencies, as well as use the automated transit trip planner.
San Francisco Municipal Railway  Get route and schedule information, including real-time service changes, along with fare information and maps.
